Summerwood Winery Promotional Video

Challenge:

The Summerwood Winery and Inn is owned by the Tokyo based Excel Corporation. Excel hired a Japanese production company to shoot and produce a promotional video of Summerwood, which was then used to market the property as a destination for Japanese tourists. Given that the script was written and recorded in Japanese, there was no way to effectively utilize the video here in the U.S. The initial inquiry made to Greene Creative Services (GCS) was to create a new script, in English, based on a translation of the Japanese script, which could then be recorded onto the existing video.

Solution:

Greene Creative Services helped the client understand that the best solution would be to not only write a new script, but to then re-cut the raw footage to create a new video. In addition to the language of the narration, Japanese graphics and music also had to be replaced. GCS obtained an English translation of the script, wrote a more American-style narration, and recorded the new voice-over. The reels of raw video yielded many excellent, unused shots and sequences, which were effectively utilized in the English language version. New music and graphics were added to complete the master tape.

GCS advised Summerwood to play the video on a continuous loop in their tasting room, thereby marketing the Inn to winery guests. In addition, per GCS recommendation, Summerwood packaged DVDs, which are now being distributed to travel agencies and to Summerwood wine club members.

Summary:

Summerwood Winery and Inn came to GCS for a new script. GCS not only solved their initial problem, they provided a full marketing solution.
